Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an activity?

Tap the "+" button on the main screen, select an activity type, fill in the details (title, location, time, difficulty), and tap "Create Activity". Your activity will be visible to other users.

How do I join an activity?

Browse activities on the main screen, tap on one you're interested in, and swipe left on the activity card or tap the "Join" button. The host will receive your join request and can accept or decline.

Why can't I cancel more join requests?

Free tier users are limited to 3 join request cancellations (lifetime). This prevents spam and ensures commitment. Premium users have unlimited cancellations. You can still join activities - the limit only applies to cancellations.

How does location sharing work?

During active activities, your real-time location is shared only with participants of that activity. This helps everyone meet up and stay together. You can disable location services in iOS Settings, but this will limit app functionality.

How do I chat with other users?

When you send a join request or someone sends you one, a chat room is automatically created. Go to the Messages tab to view all your conversations. You can also chat with activity participants once you've joined.

Can I delete my messages or chats?

Yes! In the Messages tab, swipe left on any chat to delete it. This will remove the chat from your view. You can also delete individual messages within a chat by long-pressing them.

How do I change my profile picture?

Go to your Profile tab, tap "Edit Profile", then tap the camera icon on your profile picture. You can take a new photo or choose from your photo library.

What are the different activity types?

  • Walking: General walking activities
  • Tea Time: Cafe hopping and social tea walks
  • Baby Walk: Walking with strollers or young children
  • Dog Walking: Walking with dogs

How do I report inappropriate behavior?

If you encounter inappropriate behavior or content, please email us at technical_support@walktalk.me with details. Include the username, activity/message details, and any screenshots if possible.

Why am I not receiving push notifications?

Make sure notifications are enabled:

  • Go to iOS Settings → WalkTalk → Notifications
  • Enable "Allow Notifications"
  • Choose your preferred alert style

If notifications are enabled but you're still not receiving them, try logging out and back in.

Account Management

How do I change my password?

Currently, password changes must be requested via email. Contact technical_support@walktalk.me to reset your password.

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account and all associated data:

Option 1 — In the App (recommended):

  1. Go to Settings (Profile tab → gear icon)
  2. Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
  3. Type DELETE to confirm
  4. Your account and all data will be permanently removed

Option 2 — Via Email:

  1. Email us at technical_support@walktalk.me with the subject "Delete Account"
  2. Include your registered email address
  3. We'll confirm deletion within 48 hours

Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your activities, messages, and profile data will be permanently deleted.

Privacy & Safety

Is my location data safe?

Yes. Your location is only shared with participants of activities you've actively joined. We don't store your location history permanently. Read our Privacy Policy for more details.

Technical Issues

The app is crashing or not working properly

Try these steps:

  1. Force close the app and reopen it
  2. Check for app updates in the App Store
  3. Restart your device
  4. If the issue persists, email us at technical_support@walktalk.me with:
    • Your device model and iOS version
    • Description of the problem
    • Screenshots if applicable
